This is a story about judging people, things, services, pretty much everything put on Earth and beyond.
Here are two real-life stories that can make you think about why you shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions about something based on a few moments of experience —
#1 The Cruel Boss
One of my best friends was pissed off about his boss making him stay back longer than his working hours after a long day. ‘It could have been done earlier or later, not sure what this guy’s problem is’ — he said. This state of mind spoiled his day and the people around him. Just a day after, the same boss called him asking to speak with him privately. He was told that he was being promoted and was one of a select few to receive two subsequent promotions in two years.
He then said while chuckling — ‘It is funny how things change in a matter of days’
Opinions change, move on.
#2 The Rude Staff
I recently happen to have purchased a pair of prescription glasses from my local optician whom I always prefer. When I visited to collect my order, I was taken by surprise by how they treated me considering they’re our go-to opticians for the entire family —
- They took a while to take notice that I was waiting to collect my order
- They failed to provide me with a bag to carry my order — they always provided one
I’d usually request for an optional carrying case that they’d provide but when requested, they denied it. They said it was unavailable at that time and has to be ordered. I assumed that they deliberately denied so I stormed out of the store hoping to never return. A few days later, they reached out to me saying that the carrying case that I requested is back in stock and it is available for collection whenever I walk into their store.
Saved a customer, they did.
Before you judge something, always take a step back. In this world, moving so fast — only our minds can take control and regulate our peace and provide us with the happiness we deserve.
I still have a long way to go but I’m glad for my experiences that made me what I am and share this story with you today.
As always, thank you for your time!
